Two melodic lines weave through the piece like the two gunslingers of the title, a tremolo electric guitar with spring reverb provides the twangy, expressive character that defines the spaghetti western sound, and a cor anglais adds a touch of melancholy that lifts the piece into genuine emotional territory. Castanets clack with the rhythm of a galloping horse, a choir provides choral grandeur, and a lead trumpet commands attention at key moments. Big bass drum and full percussion drive the rhythm with period-appropriate authority. The 60s production charm is present and deliberate.
