Okay, How Much Does it Cost?

It's difficult to give a precise figure, as each project has vastly different requirements. A sedate ambient piece might not take quite so much work as, say, a hyper-detailed full orchestral composition. In addition to this, whether or not your project just wants a licence to use the track, or needs a full buyout will affect pricing.


Generally speaking, for a unique composition, I will charge something in the region of $150 per minute of music for an exclusive licence to use a track for one application, plus ancillary uses (advertisements, etc). Remember, this if for a uniquely crafted piece of music; one that has been composed to your exact specification, and needs, not just found on a stock music website. How Your Custom Music is Created

After many years amassing equipment, instruments, and sample libraries, plus even more years of composing, and mixing music, I can create a diverse array of very different sounding pieces. I use Logic to create all of my tracks, and have a huge pile of tools to produce a nice sounding piece of musical goodness.


For recording, I have a Gibson SG electric guitar, Fender and Rickenbacker basses, various amps, a Microkorg synthesizer, a Korg stage piano, and loads of other smaller instruments, including acoustic guitars, melodicas, penny whistles etc... This all runs through a Focusrite preamp and audio interface for lovely clean signals, and which can often be found hooked up to my mini recording booth.


I generally compose all of my music on the piano or in my head, and sometimes guitar. Then I orchestrate the melodies and harmonies using sample libraries, and instruments to give a full sound. When that’s done, I mix everything, using Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones, an Avantone Mixcube, and then check levels, phase issues, and mix compatibility on some wonderful Yamaha monitors. Finally the product is mastered, and has some final tweaks before it’s ready to be delivered in whichever format your heart desires! I do this all very fast, so as to give adequate time for revisions if needs be. If you have any questions, drop me a message.
